Restoration of 1934 Beechcraft B17L, NC12592, serial number 12
Vertical Fin
Old fin.
My Rube Goldberg steamer is made from an old pressure cooker and large ABS pipe.
Both sides are tilted slightly inward so that condensation returns to the pot.
Gluing the leading edge bends.
The leading edge is ready to be notched. The lower curve is tighter
than the top and requires two slices and two plywood inserts.
Frame ready for plywood skin.

These aluminum parts are referred to as bearings on the drawing.
They are not bearings in the usual sense, as they are not in contact with any moving parts. I would refer to them as spacers. The same type of parts are used in the elevator hinges.
New fin is hanging out for an expected long wait.
